The white horses of the Camargue!?

Riding day 1: Aix-en-Provence - Les Baux

Dinner in Maussanne-les-Alpilles. The french cuisine is remarkable. Mostly you never know what you get, but it always is very delicious

Riding day 2: Rest day in Les Baux

Rest day - a great time for a ride! Half the group decided to do a shorter ride (40km/25mls), the other half went for the full day ride. Together we rode to Arles, where the old Roman Amphitheater is the big attraction. The short-ride group spent more time in the city and rode back from here, the long-group continued into the Camargue to look for bulls, horses and flamingos.

The famous flamingoes of the camargue. No, really, they are in the background, 100s of them.
Here they are, sleeping after a long feeding session right in the middle of the Etang de Vaccares, a salty enclosure of the mediterranean sea.
And here you can see the famous white horses of the camargue. And the look wild at least .

Riding day 3: Les Baux - Villeneuve-Les-Avignon

A very unusual sound woke us up this morning: rain drops!. As the rain continued, we put on our rain gear and started our climb up to the old castle of Les Baux. We visited the beautiful old town, and then descended to St.-Remy. During lunch in Beaucaire, the sun came out and we continued our trip on beautiful cycle pathes aling the Rhone river to Avignon.

Riding day 4: Villeneuve-lez-Avignon - Pond du Gard

Today is our restday in Villeneuve, just outside from Avignon. But since the weather was great, part of the group decided to take a 25 mile ride to the aqueduct and bridge "Pont Du Gard". After having a coffee in Remoulins we went over Pond du Gard to ride 5 more miles to Collias, where we start our kajak tour back to Pont du Gard. The other part of the group went to see the famous Pope palace in Avignon and other things.
