Marc was born in 1969 in the beautiful area of Baden, Germany.. His job in the IT led him to Frankfurt am Main. Here, it began with shorter trips after work or weekends to the Taunus, Odenwald, Spessart, Schwarzwald (black forest) and Vogesen (France). The radius enlarged and with friends, he rode to Italy, Croata, Austria, Switzerland – almost all of Europe. One day, this wasn't enough anymore and on a trip through Namibia, Marc learned a bit more about „the world out there“. But that was just the beginning... At some time, it was not possible different: Marc quit everything in Germany and shipped his 1200 GS to Chile, to travel Southamerica for one year. Since then, motorcycle journeys are his life and it was more than fitting, that Edelweiss hired him. According to his motto: „Live to ride and ride to live".

A five-year stopover in Melbourne, Australia, showed him that it is possibe to have fun riding a bike on the left side of the road and upside down. Angela was born and grew up in the Allgäu, the very southern and, as she thinks, the most beautiful part of Germany. Since the mountains predominantly shape the landscape in this area, you better learn to live with the fact that you somehow have to get up and down the mountains anyways. Be it on skies, on sled, on tires, by bicycle, by funicular or on foot – you name it, Angela did it! For Angela, however, the most fascinating way to get up and down a mountain is by riding a motorcycle. To elegantly master her bike through those curvy mountain roads… this is when Angela starts getting really focused. By the time she had gone up and down almost all of these mountains, Angela thought about discovering the other countries in Europe. When she visited the city of Genoa/Italy she found out about the ferry boats that would take her and her motorcycle to even further away destinations. Consequently, she travelled the Northern African countries and later Turkey and the Middle East. Angela came to like especially the last two areas. But this is not the end of the story! A few years later Angela discovered Edelweiss and very soon figured out that Edelweiss would be the best cure for her need to travel the world! Not only does Angela love to ride a motorcycle, she also likes to get things going, she is fond of languages and of learning about other cultures, and she likes to get to know people from around the globe. These are only a few of the reasons why Edelweiss decided to hire her as a tour guide in 2010! Well, if you want to know more, you better go on tour with her and find out yourself ...

Born and raised in a small town in Belgium, Wouter studied and worked all over the world for a big part of his life. Working as a freelance engineer has been taking him to sexy and less sexy corners of the world for many years. Continuously meeting all kinds of people while gathering experiences, traveling really has become a lifestyle for him. He is also convinced that the best way to get around is on two wheels. With such a mindset of course, the adventure never ends…

Wim is a fortysomething Belgian living in Meise, right outside Brussels, in the flat green countryside where cows are the most spectacular wildlife around. He works in PR for a car company, hence his love for old-timers and six-cylinder engines. A Bavarian veal sausage breakfast followed by a motorcycle tour is the perfect way to start the day for a Bavarian guy. Born in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, there are a lot of great roads for motorcycling nearby. Mike loves to ride a bike in the Austrian mountains. That`s one reason why he decided to move to Innsbruck for studying in 2013. His favorite track: riding up the Sellraintal to Kühtai. Längental Reservoir is a good place there for having a rest, learning for university or enjoying the sun. Mike`s wanderlust seems to be unlimited. My favorite bike: My Ducati Monster S4R. Not the best touring bike out there but a huge amount of fun!
His name sounds very British indeed, but Anthony was actually born in Austria, in Salzburg to be precise, back in 1981. After his birth he immediately started travelling. Due to his father‘s job he was frequently taken out of school to go spend a month or two in some far away country, a theme which has carried through to his adult life. His professional career includes working as a translator for a chemical clean-up project in the Czech Republic and hotel concierge in San Diego, California. Recently he returned to Austria where he splits his time between ski instructing, working as a paramedic and riding his bike. Anthony started his new career with Edelweiss in 2013.

Björn – pronounce the ö like the u in urban – was born in Mainz, an ancient city on the banks of the Rhine. It didn't take him long to figure out that he was interested in all kinds of vehicles, and so he got his motorcycle license at the age of 18 and bought his first bike two weeks later. He started out on a Suzuki SV650 S and it did not take long until he took the bike on a first tour through the Black Forest. This tour must have impressed him so much that he moved to the northern part of Black Forest just after he finished his academic studies in Darmstadt, to have the Black Forest high road at his doorstep. Today he works in the automotive industry in Karlsruhe and as he figured how important it is to have some time away from the office every now and then, he applied at Edelweiss. Here it became apparent that more than a dozen busy years of riding under his belt made him a very safe and seasoned rider. Guiding comes naturally to him and no problem or situation can get him out of his comfort zone. And you can rest

The city of Ulm, situated in the deep south of Germany, is not only home to the World’s tallest church spire, but also to Andreas, who was born here in 1968. Apart from learning and speaking foreign languages – especially Spanish – he obviously loves to ride motorcycles. He has more than 200,000 miles under his belt, and the ones he covered on his trip around the Black Sea in 2003 count among his favorite ones. Andreas is an active and very able off-road racer; he won the German 3-hour Enduro Championship three times! From 2013 on, now working for Edelweiss, he will cover considerably more miles on- than off-road.

Born in 1988 as a child of a musician, Julian has travelled a lot since he was a child. He lived in Tyrol, South Africa, Vienna and Italy - all before his 6th birthday. So he found his discoverer joy very early and it never let him go. For 4 years Julian has been living in his hometown - too much time without variety in his opinion - as a passionate adventurer and motorcyclist the job as a tourguide at Edelweiss fits him perfectly.

Despite the fact that Tom was born and raised in Luxemburg he did not, at any point in his life, want to become a banker. Instead he wanted to ride motorcycles, the more the better, and with his father being a professional riding instructor Tom was able to get off to a good start. He began riding in 1998 and the Alps, spreading out not far south of his doorstep, provided the perfect training ground. To finance his passion Tom became a bus driver, a stressful job even in Luxemburg, so he joined Edelweiss in 2015, hoping to find some relief from daily stress situations. Keep hoping, Tom!

I was born in Hall in Tirol and live since then in Zillertal, the widest side valley in Tirol. As I grew up in a Hotel Business I have always seen tourismus from very close. That’s why I decided to sign up for the school of tourism in Zell am Ziller. After finishing my study, I did my 6 months military service and then decided to commit to a foreign assignment. Back from the mission, I lived up to the typical cliché of a Tyrolean and worked as a ski instructor in the morning and stood behind the bar in our hotel in the evening. Now I've swapped my skis for 2 wheels and look forward to a new chapter in my life ... The passion for motorcycling I most likely got from my dad. Starting with 6 years I was put on a Yamaha PW80 and was immediately infected with the virus of motorcycling. As a result, I gained a lot of experience in the offroad area over the years until finally, at the age of 16, I was allowed to take my driving license for the road. On the road I collected my kilometers with a KTM Duke 125, a Yamaha MT07 and currently with a BMW R1200 GS LC.

For him, the perfect end to a great day on the bike is sitting around the campfire under a star-filled sky, playing and singing and having a good time. Michael was born in 1961 in Würzburg, a small town in northern Bavaria. He worked as an architect for many years, then decided to follow his dreams and joined Edelweiss in 2005. In 2011 he started looking after our new program of Triumph tours.

Like every true Dutchman Ted loves boats. In fact he loved boats so much that he joined the Dutch Navy and lived, for many years, on boats of all sizes, all over the world. For a while he settled down in Florida, for another while in the Caribbean, and for a third while in Portugal, but now, as a retired “Navy guy”, he moved back to Holland, where he lives with his wife. His three grown-up kids also live in Holland. Ted was born in ’62 and joined Edelweiss in ’14, so he calls himself “the oldest rookie” among the tour guides. But don’t worry, Ted: as retiree with plenty of time on your hands you won’t be a rookie very long ...

If you ask Milan where he’s from he will stop and think for a few seconds. Born in Chile to German parents but grown up in the US, in Colorado. Speaks three languages fluently. So where is he from? If home is where the heart is then Milan’s home is Telluride, Colorado, where he lives with his wife and dog. Telluride is a great place to live when you like outdoor activities like skiing, mountain biking, backpacking, river rafting and hiking. Milan loves all these things, but he especially enjoys riding motorcycles; he started when he was only 13, on a 50cc Honda dirt bike. Today there is hardly anybody who is more familiar with Colorado’s back roads. Milan started guiding tours for Edelweiss in 2013. Whenever he is not guiding, he owns and operates a construction business specializing in building and remodeling energy efficient or "High Performance" homes. In a mountain environment, it's important to have a comfortable home! Sorry Milan, but you won’t be home that much anymore ...

People from Hamburg are said to be more open-minded and more outgoing than others. Mirko, born in Hamburg in the mid-70ies, is no exception, in fact he is so outgoing that he went all the way to Buenos Aires and lived there for a couple of years. After working in the shipping industry for many years Mirko joined Edelweiss in 2013. He would love to specialize in South America tours since this is the continent he loves most, so if you book a tour down there chances are that you’ll get in touch with his genuine Hamburg humor ...

David, one of the youngest of all Edelweiss tour guides, was born in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, a resort town in the Bavarian Alps, in the far south of Germany. He grew up and still lives in Klais, a pretty village outside of Garmisch, where people still wear Lederhosen as an everyday outfit. After he finished school David joined the military for a year, finished an apprenticeship as a shoemaker and worked for the Germany Alpine Club, building and maintaining hiking paths and shelters in the Bavarian Alps. He enjoyed doing all these things but when Edelweiss came along and offered him a job he instantly knew what to do ... David spends a lot of time riding his KTM and mountain bike off road (and we mean OFF road!!!) and climbing and hiking and working out, so he is top fit. If you should come on one of his tours you are always welcome to join him for a little triathlon before breakfast.

Professionally, I could take my dream job as a sports reporter after a long time in the army. Here I was able to report, among other things from the Olympic Games in Beijing and London. As press officer from Klaus Klaffenböck I was in 2001 live there es he wins his sidecar World Championship titel. In the last 9 years I have been in a variety of functions (press and team boss) at the toughest bicycle race in the world the Race Across America. Speaking Extreme Race: In 2010 I successfully completed the Race Around Austria I have completed the 2200 km distance in 5 days! In 2016, I look forward to my new task - Tour Guide at Edelweiss Bike Travel!

Holger was born in Canada, grew up later in Germany and moved a lot ... from the Rheinland area to the North Sea, to Lake Constance and with detours to Munich where he currently lives. He worked in international product marketing for leading companies in the semiconductor industries and travelled all over the world. End of 2010 he quit his job in order to fulfill his dream. He went with his motorbike from Munich through the Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, South-East Asia and via Indonesia to down under, Australia. An additional 9 months he spent with his motorbike in South America exploring some of the most remote places on this earth. In 2015 he started at Edelweiss with a scouting in China and on the world tour from Tallinn to Bangkok. Since then…but this he should tell you in person! :)

What I like: I like contrasts;
Lazy cruising & fast corners,
Skidding on gravel & leaning in on sticky tarmac,
Deep, dark forests & high, open mountain passes.
Or a rainy day followed by a beautiful sunset.
What I dislike: Unnecessary stress and drama.
Hobbies: Hiking, jogging and cross country skiing in the Norwegian outdoors (I’m not a fanatic though – the couch can be a nice place too). Riding my motorbike of course. And I love being around animals.
My favorite bike: Well, I do like my R1200GS a lot, because it is so versatile and can be used for anything from dirt road riding, to long distance touring with my favorite pillion.
Arild is our only Scandinavian tour guide. He was born in Oslo, Norway in the mid-sixties and still lives in the Oslo-area. He has spent 20 years in the airline business and another 10 years within real estate, and is experienced in service, sales and management. These days being a tour guide as his no. 1 priority, while doing some analysis and consultancy work on the side. He took his license in the eighties, but had a long break from riding. 5 years ago he rediscovered that everything is more fun on two wheels, and it’s been hard to get him off his GS ever since. Being a typical Norwegian he might come across as a bit cool and reserved, but he will be your best friend on tour and make sure you are doing all right.

My favorite bike: Still the R 1200 GS
Oliver – his friends and colleagues are allowed to call him Olli – was born in 1968 and lives in Worms, an ancient city on the banks of the river Rhine. He has been guiding tours for Edelweiss for many, many, many years, but being the busy business man he is Olli can only guide tours part time any more. He says he only does it for the money, but if you ever get to travel with him you’ll see that his experience and his sense of humor make him a great guide. And who knows: sooner or later you can maybe call him Olli, too!

Peter was born in Vienna, raised in Bad Ischl, then moved back to Vienna for school and work, he lives in St. Pölten today, working for a concrete factory. He loves skiing, so he spends most of his winters in the Enns valley. Since he also loves motorcycles (two of his uncles were active racers and introduced him early to the pleasure of riding motorized two-wheelers) he spends his summers in... well, in St. Pölten, because he’s got to work. He joined Edelweiss in 2015, so from now on, Peter, you’ll be riding some more...

If you connect up with me you just might get infected with the thrill of seeing the beauty of this land through new and wondrous eyes. After living here for 30 years, I am re-discovering the highlights by being able to show them to others. Get on board and be inspired.

Paul, or Pazlo as his friends call him, was born in 1955 and grew up in Minneapolis, USA. He moved around the US quite a bit, lived in Boulder, Boston, San Francisco and Eureka, CA, then set out to discover the world and took up work in metropolises like Tokyo, Amsterdam, Berlin and Achenkirch, Austria. He seems to like it in good old Europe, because he has not left it during the last 30 years other than for purely recreational purposes. Pazlo has everything a tour guide needs to have: he loves to travel, he likes to meet good people and make new friends, he values good food and he loves to ride motorcycles. He joined the Edelweiss team in 2012 and we’re sure he’s going to love it!

Manuel, born in 1982, is one of the Italians reinforcing the ranks of Edelweiss tour guides. He grew up in Bolzano, surrounded by the Dolomites and their incredible alpine roads. This favourable setting – and having a great rider as a father – invited him to start riding motorbikes at the age of 14. Now at over 30 he is still enjoying every km of road as it was the first time. After his bachelor in philosophy Manuel realised that Nirvana can be reached while travelling; he moved to northern Norway and spent several seasons above the Arctic Circle working as a tour guide. In 2009 he finally had the opportunity to combine his passions guiding, travelling and riding a motorcycle by joining Edelweiss. Since then he has guided many tours in Europe, mostly in Italy and in Scandinavia. The Alps and nearby areas like Slovenia and Croatia come in from time to time, as a gentle touch between the extreme North and deep South, together with tours around charming Central Europe. Even after studying in Denmark and becoming a Master of Tourism in the process it is hard for Manuel to nominate his preferred Edelweiss tour. One of the things he likes most is meeting rider companions from previous tours and lead them into new discoveries. His past as pure tour guide and ‘philosopher’ gives him a fair deal of communication skills and he truly loves the daily briefings and the stops along the way, when he can share his knowledge with the group. He likes to add a bit of irony, because a great laugh is the best icebreaker while starting a new tour. Besides riding and travelling, he also likes photography, snowboarding, scuba diving, rock music and a good beer after a long ride under a perfect sunny day. Although there is a Honda CBR in his garage his favourite bikes for touring are GS, RT, Multistrada and Triumph Tiger. Edelweiss guides are spoiled enough to have the fortune to ride all of them on tour so we don’t really have to choose only a single favourite one... And, no, like you, Manuel does not like rain too much, but sometimes it is part of the deal. In fact he agrees with the famous Norwegian motto that says: “There is no bad weather, only bad clothes”.

Reason why people enjoy being on tour with me: Try it out and you'll see! But be careful - you might get addicted!
Favorite destination: Tuscany, because of the chaotic, open-hearted, passionate Italians mixed with twisty, windy roads, awesome food and even better wine!
What I like: Gummy bears, get-up-and-go people, the unexpected and good friends
What I dislike: Pedants, holes in socks, wet motorcycle boots, iced windshields and bad food
Hobbies: Cooking and eating with friends, a good glass of wine, languages and all kind of sports
My favorite bike: What a question! The R 1200 GS of course. If you know anything better, please let me know!
Quite a few female tour guides are working for Edelweiss these days, but when Ursula started guiding groups back in 2004 she was the only one. She doesn’t want us to know how old she is, which is ok since she happily gives away plenty of other information: born, raised and still living in south-western Bavaria, in a lovely region known as the Allgäu, pronounced Ull-goy. For Ursula this is the most beautiful spot our planet has to offer, but she still loves to go out and see other places, most notably Italy. She loves to ride big bikes but secretly adores the Vespa 300. She’s a lot of fun to be on tour with, so make sure you give it a try. And if you ask her how she and Edelweiss got together all she’ll tell you is: it was just inevitable ...
Tours I will be leading: Scooter Tours, Tours in France, Alps Extreme, Mediterranean Alps Extreme, Best of Europe
Reason why people enjoy being on tour with me: Because I can tell jokes like nobody can. You know the one with the Australian farmer…?
Favorite destination: There are so many places. I love the Alps right through, seeing the Dolomites gives me goosebumps (the good type) and Morocco is breathtaking.
What I like: Adventure, seeing new things, a challenge.

Hobbies: DIY projects, mechanics, cooking, creating stuff in general. I enjoy learning and spending time with the family.
My favorite bike: BMW R1200 GS, Ducati Multistrada and my VanVan (so much fun to ride in busy Parisian traffic)
Pablo was born in Spain, grew up in England, is still crazy in love with his girlfriend from Italy and now lives in France. He is a trained chef and confectioner, worked in the hospitality industry for years, managed a handful of different companies – some with more, some with less success – and lived, worked and travelled all over the place. So you think he must be at least 50 years old, but he only looks 50, he is actually much younger. He speaks five languages, but since German is not one of them his colleagues have been trying to teach him some strong language, and man, he is one fast learner! Pablo joined Edelweiss in 2015 and if you should ever be on one of his tours we have one piece of advice for you: bring a well-trained diaphragm...
Tours I will be leading: Anywhere in the world!
Reason why people enjoy being on tour with me: You better like what you have to do anyway and often people loose their free will after the first contact already. That's how it is if you get caught by a drug dealer. My mission is to get you addicted. Warning: Success rate - high!

My favorite bike: BMW R 1200 GS - constant fun factor - from the Autobahn of Munich to the dunes of Pismo Beach!
Despite the fact that many people, especially those from English speaking countries, frequently mispronounce his last name, Christian consistently delivers a top tour-guiding performance. He has worked for Edelweiss for many, many, many years, for so long actually that hardly anybody remembers the time before. During these years he travelled to every country you can possibly think of, riding his motorcycle through scorching deserts, across snow-covered mountain passes, through dripping wet rainforests and in and out of heavily congested cities, and he always manages to convince his faithfully following group that this is the best fun they ever had. Christian was born in Austria in 1956 and he still lives there, in the hills outside Linz, in an old farmhouse that he lovingly restored. He used to be a professional motocross racer, then guided trekking- and adventure tours in the US for years before joining the Edelweiss team in 1994. If you asked him why he still loves guiding tours for Edelweiss, this would be his answer: “Where else could I find a job where I constantly get to meet new friends while being sent out to the most exotic locations of the planet in order to attack those wicked, cool, twisting roads on the newest, best-performing motorcycles? And then they force me to have a beer!”

Tom was born in Munich in 1972, only a stone’s throw from the Oktoberfest site. Jens, one of the longest-serving tour guides in the team, “retired” to the office in 2012, after twelve years on the road. His young family, especially his son Pablo, turned the restless traveler into a settled man. For many years Jens, born in 1969, lived in Worms, a town on the banks of the Rhine. Throughout his life he loved to travel, he went to Africa, Thailand, Australia and the US, he lived in Madrid and in Corsica and he criss-crossed South America on two wheels, left to right, top to bottom. For him work as a tour guide meant a perfect match of his favorite hobbies and the inevitable need to make a living. After his son was born in 2009 Jens yearned for more time at home. When a position became available in the head office he seized the opportunity and moved to Austria. Now he designs custom tours for groups from every conceivable country, from Israel to Brazil, from Taiwan to Canada. Spanish speaking groups from South and Central America are his favorites; his Spanish, you see, is better than his English. Some people say it’s even better than his German… ;-) Whenever he is not in the office or on tour (he still looks after the Best of Europe), Jens is at home, cooking, fixing his old house or playing with his son. A real family guy! If you’re ever in the area, drop in for a coffee: Jens loves to talk about riding the roads of the great wide world.

Born and raised in Naples and therefore a real Italian, Domenico had no choice. After spending his childhood years riding around on bicycles he acquired a motorized two-wheeler as soon as he was old enough, and the vehicle he got was – of course – a Vespa. Domenico studied economics and after his graduation he went to work in the tourism industry, because he wanted to see the world while working. After several years of experience in hotels, holiday resorts, travel agencies, and cruise ships, he decided that time had come to combine his past professional experiences with his passion for motorcycles, so he applied with Edelweiss. We were happy to take him on, and from 2013 on Domenico will be a tour guide.

Christian was born in Styria and raised in Lower Austria, and for the last 16 years he has lived in Tyrol, becoming a “real” Tyrolean in the process. But he also dared to venture outside of Austria; his jobs took him to the Middle East, the Balkans and to Central Asia. Christian’s motto is “strength is born of calmness”; he started guiding tours for Edelweiss in 2014.

Claudia is a real Bavarian girl, born, raised and still at home in Munich. She completed an apprenticeship in hotel management, worked in the field for years, studied tourism and event management and worked in that field again for years. Right now she has a regular office job, something that doesn’t quite fulfill her, so when she went on the Edelweiss Moscow to Bangkok tour as a customer in 2014 and witnessed the exciting and diverse lives of her tour guides, she instinctively knew what to do… Now she lives according to her motto: you can’t add more years to your life, but you can add more life to your years.

He moved to Munich in 2000 to improve his work/life balance and has been there ever since, apart from a 2 year hiatus in Costa Rica.
