Valleys and Mountains of Tyrol 8TR

Austria   |  Italy

Wonderful bicycle paths that wind their way between the highest peaks of the Eastern Alps, sprinkled with Italian dolce vita and Austrian hospitality: welcome to the Tyrolean loop!

The Alps are blessed with beautiful landscapes and rich history and culture. In recent years, numerous beautiful cycle paths have been laid out, making them an absolute paradise for leisure cyclists. This tour will take us twice over the main ridge of the Alps and introduce us to many of the most beautiful and interesting places in Tyrol and South Tyrol.

One of these is the Reschensee with the submerged village of Graun, from which only the church tower still rises out of the water. Glurns, the smallest town in Italy, enchants us with its high fortified walls and the pretty village center, where we will enjoy a delicious Italian coffee. Along the Adige river and past endless apple orchards and vineyards we coast
down to Bolzano, where we visit the pretty old town and Ötzi, the Iceman. South Tyrol delights us with its mixture of Austrian and Italian influences and with its breathtaking landscape. A glass of wine on the spa promenade in Merano, an ice cream in the historic old town of Bressanone, a few vitamins from the fruit market in Bolzano and genuine South Tyrolean dumplings in Sterzing - that's the way to live. Tyrol and South Tyrol with the e-bike: a dream!

DAY 1: Arrival in Mieming
Your adventure begins with our Welcome Briefing in the hotel at 4 pm where you can meet the group.
DAY 2: Mieming - Pfunds
We leave Mieming and ride down into the Inn valley, which we follow on a pleasant cycle path until we reach Landeck. Here the Inn makes a bend and we also follow the new direction and cycle towards Switzerland and Italy. Our destination is the pretty alpine village Pfunds.
DAY 3: Pfunds - Cermes (Tscherms)
Today we cycle into Switzerland, but only for a short distance, then we tackle the switchbacks of the Norberthöhe and thus reach Nauders and the Reschenpass, where we step onto Italian soil. With a view of the Ortler, South Tyrol's highest mountain, we roll down into the Vinschgau valley and on to Tscherns, a suburb of Merano.
DAY 4: Cermes (Tscherms) - Bressanone (Brixen)
The Vinschgau valley is known for its orchards and vineyards and the many castles and castle ruins on the mountain slopes. We ride along the Adige river to Bolzano, where we have a look around and have lunch, perhaps with a view of the cathedral. There is also plenty of time for a visit to the Ötzi Museum. Afterwards we take the Eisack valley cycle path and ride to Brixen, which enchants us with its beautiful historic old town.
DAY 5: Bressanone (Brixen) - Mieming
On the last and longest day of the tour we conquer the Brenner, the lowest and most important alpine crossing. Before that we have a last real Italian espresso in Sterzing. At the foot of the Brenner, the Inn awaits us again, which we follow until the ascent to Mieming challenges us one last time.
DAY 6: Departure from Mieming
Let's enjoy our final breakfast and then set off on our journey homeward.
