After the railway line Parenzana was terminated and its rails dismantled, the small place Livade fell into a sleep lasting almost half a century. Livade is surrounded by the oaks of the Motovun Forest. In 1973 Giancarlo Zigante decided to train his dogs in the truffle search. He is by now the most famous inhabitant of Livade. Already in 1932 the attention to this valuable tuber was drawn. But it was Giancarlo Zignate that made Livade a world-famous truffle place. On November 2nd. 1999 Giancarlo Zigante and his dogs Dina, Sarah and Dijki found the largest white truffle weighing 1.31 kg. This day made history, and he was honored with an entry into the Guinness book of records.

The Limski Fjord might be the most fascinating sight of the Istrian peninsula. The fjord is 9 km long and 600 meters wide. The steepest walls are up to 100 meters high. The water is deep green and is excellent for fish and mussel farming.

This town is a popular tourist resort and an active fishing port. It was founded by the Romans in the 2nd century on a little island that is now connected to the mainland and it is dominated by the baroque St. Euphemia’s Church. Its 60-meter tower provides a view of grey and red rooftops and chimneys, streets and squares. The beauty of Rovinj was particularly appreciated by artists who have painted the most beautiful motifs here and exhibited them on Grisia, the street of artists.

The Brijuni National Park is a 34 square km archipelago. It is located 7 km away from Pula containing 34 islands. It is Istria's only national park and is open to the public today. It used to be the private residency of Tito. Brioni, the Italian version of Brijuni, is not only an island name but also a brand name. Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig wore the brand for ten years, making it known worldwide. The Tyrolean industrialist Paul Kupelwieser bought the islands in 1893 and 7 years later he invited the German bacteriologist Robert Koch, who identified the Anopheles mosquito as the bearer of the malaria. There is much to see here: Tito's photo exhibition, a safari park, a Roman villa complex, a byzantine chapel and much more.

Since 1970 the Mediterranean Sculpture Symposium is held in this park every year from August to September. Throughout the year the park features sculptures and artwork of famous International and Croatian artists.
