Pueblos Blancos of Andalusia 8GS

3000 hours of sun every year and landscapes which couldn't be more diverse

We will start with Granada, the highlight of every Andalusian trip. We then explore the world-famous Moorish King’s castle Alhambra, which is nestled in the picturesque Sierra Nevada.

We travel on to Antequera, which developed into an important trading centre in the centuries after the Reconquista. Our hotel in Antequera welcomes us with luxury. In Ronda the Moorish past is brought to life: There we will visit the oldest bullfighting arena in the world, before the white villages of Andalusia and the natural beauty of the Grazalema lure
us into physical activity on two wheels. At the end of our tour the gorgeous city of Sevilla will take our breath away.

DAY 1: Arrival in Granada
Your adventure begins with our Welcome Briefing in the hotel at 4 pm where you can meet the group.
DAY 2: Granada - Antequera
We will leave the first cultural highlights behind us and take the train to Loja. With our bikes we will cycle along the scenic routes of Rio Guadalhorce to Antequera. Away from the big tourist streams, it is nestled between rocky hills. Nowhere in Spain can you find as many church towers as here.
DAY 3: Antequera - El Chorro
Let’s head south. One of the most impressive karst landscapes in Europe is the Plateau El Torcal, where the power of nature carved bizarre sculptures into the porous limestone. The interactive visitor center will introduce you to the geological origin, fauna and flora. Mirador Las Ventanillas is only few minutes away and offers impressive views on the Costa del Sol. We will cycle along 3 large reservoir lakes and through impressives gorges towards del Rey, where we will leave the canyon at El Chorro.
DAY 4: El Chorro - El Burgo
After a short climb we will reach Bobastro, a legendary castle, which lies like an eagle’s nest on top of the Meseta de Villaverde. We will then cycle a short distance along the Guadalhorce dam and follow the Rio Turon for the rest of the day.
DAY 5: El Burgo - Ronda
We will leave El Burgo and head north. Setenil de las Bodegas is the first of the “pueblos blancos”, the white villages. The houses of this white village crouch under overhanging rocks, the rock thereby being partly used as a roof or wall. We will stay the night in the lively city of Ronda.
DAY 6: Ronda - Grazalema
The white villages of Andalusia! Zahara de la Sierra – a picturesque village nestled on a mighty rock at the northern edge of the Sierra de Grazalema Nature Park. Above the village we can see the ruin of a Moorish castle. We will cycle across the Puerto de las Palomas, the pass of the pigeons, and reach the next white village. Grazalema, which is supposedly the most beautiful of them all.
DAY 7: Grazalema - Arcos de la Frontera
We will cycle through the Sierra de Grazalema on small roads to Ubrique. Small houses built of natural stones line the streets. It is time to relax with a cafe con leche. El Bosque is located at the gate of Sierra Grazalema National Park at the river Rio Majaceite, which is the southernmost trout fishing area of Europe and the ideal place for a delicious lunch. Today’s destination, picturesque Arco de la Frontera, is situated on a steep cliff, where Moorish arches span several of the narrow streets, forming the town’s unique character. Our accommodation for tonight is a hotel in the center of the old town.
DAY 8: Arcos de la Frontera - Seville
We will return our bikes in Jerez de la Frontera. We then get on a train which will take us to the proud and elegant city of Sevilla. We have enough time for a city tour, before we will enjoy the last Spanish tapas.
DAY 9: Departure from Seville
Let’s enjoy our final breakfast together and then set off on our journey homeward.
