On this tour you immerse in the culture of beautiful southern Tuscany. Here, all senses are stimulated: hearing, seeing, smelling, tasting – combined with a little physical activity. Our journey starts in Florence, also called the “Pearl of Renaissance”. From here, we head southwards through one of the loveliest landscapes of Italy, the Chianti. This region is known for its “slow food”, which is not a fast-moving trend, but a century-old tradition.
The following day you will be astonished by San Gimignano’s medieval skyscrapers, also called the “Manhattan of Tuscany”. Other architectural masterpieces can be found in Siena with its Gothic cathedral and its worldfamous Piazza. With some luck, we can even hear the Gregorian chants of the San Antimo monks, as we relax in the warm thermal pools of Bagno di
Filippo – just as the pilgrims did thousands of years ago. Through Val d`Orcia we then reach Lake Bolsena and eventually, Orvieto with its countless cultural treasures, which are only waiting for us to be discovered.

DAY 1: | Arrival in Firenze (Florence) Your adventure begins with our Welcome Briefing in the hotel at 4 pm where you can meet the group. |
DAY 2: | Firenze (Florence) - Castellina in Chianti Today we will ride into the area of Chianti Classico, a region as beautiful and lovely as can be. Part of today’s exploration will be a visit to a vineyard, as well as a stopover in one of the hidden Slow Food restaurants. |
DAY 3: | Castellina in Chianti - San Gimignano Highlights such as San Gimignano, the "Manhattan of Tuscany" and Castellina in Chianti will delight us on the second day. For those who have not cycled enough today, an extra round trip to Volterra is possible. The old Etruscan city is home to the Guarnacci Museum, with interesting Etruscan excavations. |
DAY 4: | San Gimignano - Siena Today we will cycle from Val d’Elsa in direction of Monteriggioni, which looks like a big prison with its city wall and its many towers. Our day ends in Siena, where every year the Palio di Siena – a legendary horse race – takes place. For this event, the Piazza del Campo, probably the most beautiful square of Italy, becomes one big race track. |
DAY 5: | Siena - Pienza We will continue our journey through „Il Crete“, which is located south of Siena. We will cycle past rolling hills full of cypresses and driveways: a landscape you may have already seen on calendar pictures. Brunello, one of the most expensive wines in the world, grows nearby, in Montalcino. |
DAY 6: | Pienza - Città della Pieve We are heading south towards the Etruscan thermal baths. In the olden days Bagno Vignoni was the place where pilgrims used to relax and recover from their pilgrimage hardship. We will also take some time to relax and dive into the natural pools of Bagno San Filippo. |
DAY 7: | Città della Pieve - Orvieto Lake Bolsena is an almost circular lake, surrounded by the Volsine mountains. Here we will make the first acquaintance with the cuisine of the Lazio. By now we are only 90 km from Rome. Orvieto lies high on a tufa massif before us. It looks impressive yet almost threatening. Our day ends in this ancient Etruscan city. |
DAY 8: | Departure from Orvieto Let’s enjoy our final breakfast together and then set off on our journey homeward. |
