Through scenic lake landscapes on the paths of the Habsburg monarchy

We start our journey in Salzburg, the festival centre and Mozart’s birthplace. Picturesque lakes, turquoise blue water, snow-capped peaks and Austrian culinary delights as well as a perfectly developed cycle path network await you on this tour through the Salzkammergut.

In the past, many places, for example Hallstatt, could only be reached by ship or on small mule paths. As a result, specific traditions, cultures and characteristics have been developed in the individual regions, which we will discover. Salt was the white gold at that time and everything revolved around this valuable property. We will certainly also dive into this part of
history and culture. Last but not least we will visit the beautifully located ‘Kehlsteinhaus– The Eagle’s Nest’, before heading back to Salzburg.

Travel schedule

Day 1: Arrival in Salzburg
Your adventure begins with our Welcome Briefing in the hotel at 4 pm where you can meet the group.

Day 2: Salzburg - Fuschl am See
We leave Salzburg, the city of Mozart, and head north. Soon we reach the first lakes. Cycling past Wallersee, Irrsee, and Mondsee, we reach our destination, Fuschlsee. From the hotel, we enjoy the view across the lake and Fuschl Castle.

Day 3: Fuschl am See - Gmunden
We will start our day exploring the well-known St. Wolfgang. From there a ferry carries us over the lake and onward we travel along Mondsee towards east. Our final destination for the day is Gmunden located on Traunsee. This town is known for its ceramic tradition.

Day 4: Gmunden - Gosau
Following the Traun River, we reach Bad Ischl with its Imperial Villa and a delightful confectionery. We cycle along the eastern shore of Lake Hallstatt and visit Hallstatt itself. The view of the old fishing village is breathtaking. In the afternoon, we are impressed by the scenery of Lake Gosau, spectacularly nestled between steep mountain slopes.

Day 5: Gosau - Bad Vigaun
From here we will head uphill. We will reach Bad Vigaun via the Pass Gschütt and the Lammer cycle paths. Here we have a varied program.

Day 6: Bad Vigaun
Today there are many options. Those with a thirst for adventure can cycle to Werfen Castle and explore its ancient rooms, corridors, and dark corners. There's even a birds of prey show. Those seeking a more relaxed experience can enjoy the spa area or stroll through the charming village of Bad Vigaun.

Outstanding!

The Edelweiss e-bike tour and the Austrian Lake District were outstanding, from the top e-bikes to the knowledgeable tour guides. I look forward to experiencing „the best ride there is“ on another Edelweiss tour soon.
