A tour of contrasts: mountains, rivers, lovely vineyards...

...and the Mediterranean flair of Lake Garda are combined with historical sites along the 2000 year old Roman road.

We start our journey in Innsbruck, the pearl of Tyrol, and follow an old pilgrimage route over the Mieminger Sonnenplateau. From here, we will cross the main Alpine ridge (by bike or by shuttle) via the Via Claudia, a historic trade route. We can now enjoy a ride downhill to the Vinschgau valley, savouring the scents of juicy apple orchards. In the background we
can see the glaciers of the Ortler and the dramatic summits of the Dolomites – a valley which couldn’t be more beautiful. Further South, we can see that viticulture has defined the life of the the people living in this area for centuries. Ancient castles and historic cities such as Trento enchant us and gently introduce us to the Mediterranean flair with sunshine, palm
trees and gelato at Lake Garda which already awaits us. The view from Monte Baldo over the huge lake is incredibly breath-taking and the glass of Amarone from the Valpolicella so enticing, one wishes for time to stop.

Travel schedule

Day 1: Arrival in Innsbruck
Your adventure begins with our Welcome Briefing in the hotel at 4 pm where you can meet the group.

Day 2: Innsbruck - Zams
Crossing the Mieminger Sonnenplateau we cycle down into the Inn valley and follow an old pilgrimage path to the monastery Kronburg.

Day 3: Zams - Glorenza (Glurns)
Today we will cross the main Alpine ridge via bike or shuttle bus. We will pass by Reschensee with its bizarre church tower which rises from the middle of the lake. From there we ride downhill to Vinschgau valley and the village Glurns, the smallest village of Italy.

Day 4: Glorenza (Glurns) - Bolzano (Bozen)
The Vinschgau welcomes us with endless apple orchards, framed by the glaciers of the Ortler. A stone quarry strikes us featuring the finest white Italian marble. The labyrinth garden in Merano is a true treasure, and offers the perfect place to enjoy a tasty lunch beside a romantic brook and mill wheel.

Day 5: Bolzano (Bozen) - Trento
From here you will see vineyards as far as your eyes can reach, century-old cultures. Via an old mule track we will pass by San Remedio, where the mountain valley opens up and we reach Trentino.

Day 6: Trento - Riva del Garda
We will leave the Dolomites behind us and dive right into the Mediterranean flair of Garda lake. Enjoy the Italian sun and the pristine waters of the lake. Breathe in the sweet smells of lavender and rosemary and relax.
