3000 hours of sun every year and landscapes which couldn't be more diverse

We will start with Granada, the highlight of every Andalusian trip. We then explore the world-famous Moorish King’s castle Alhambra, which is nestled in the picturesque Sierra Nevada.

We travel on to Antequera, which developed into an important trading centre in the centuries after the Reconquista. Our hotel in Antequera welcomes us with luxury. In Ronda the Moorish past is brought to life: There we will visit the oldest bullfighting arena in the world, before the white villages of Andalusia and the natural beauty of the Grazalema lure us into physical activity on two wheels.

Travel schedule

Day 1: Arrival in Granada
Your adventure begins with our Welcome Briefing in the hotel at 4 pm where you can meet the group.

Day 2: Granada - Antequera
We will leave the first cultural highlights behind us and take the train to Loja. With our bikes we will cycle along the scenic routes of Rio Guadalhorce to Antequera. Away from the big tourist streams, it is nestled between rocky hills. Nowhere in Spain can you find as many church towers as here.

Day 3: Antequera - El Chorro
Let’s head south. One of the most impressive karst landscapes in Europe is the Plateau El Torcal, where the power of nature carved bizarre sculptures into the porous limestone. The interactive visitor center will introduce you to the geological origin, fauna and flora. Mirador Las Ventanillas is only few minutes away and offers impressive views on the Costa del Sol. We will cycle along 3 large reservoir lakes and through impressives gorges towards del Rey, where we will leave the canyon at El Chorro.

Day 4: El Chorro - Ronda
Shortly after El Chorro, after a short climb, we reach Bobastro, the legendary castle that sits like an eagle's nest on the plateau of the Mesas de Villaverde. Here, from 850 A.D., Omar Ben Hafsun, a rebel leader, maintained his headquarters. Starting from Bobastro, he initiated an early attempt of the Reconquista, the reconquest of the Iberian Peninsula by the Christians. We cycle a short distance along the Guadalhorce reservoir and then follow the Rio Turon to Burgos. Our destination is Ronda, the Moorish fortress, the shelter of smugglers and bandits, the place where bullfighting was invented - the highlight of every Andalusian trip.

Day 5: Ronda
Today is a rest day, which does not mean that we do nothing. There is much to see and an interesting bike route, but of course you can also spend the day relaxing by the pool. We offer a small but very nice bike tour to Setenil de las Bodegas. And then, of course, we are in the highlight of every Andalusia vacation - Ronda. This is where the Spanish bullfight was invented. The bullring was inaugurated in 1785, is the oldest of its kind in all of Spain and can be visited.

Day 6: Ronda - Grazalema
The white villages of Andalusia! Zahara de la Sierra – a picturesque village nestled on a mighty rock at the northern edge of the Sierra de Grazalema Nature Park. Above the village we can see the ruin of a Moorish castle. We will cycle across the Puerto de las Palomas, the pass of the pigeons, and reach the next white village. Grazalema, which is supposedly the most beautiful of them all.

Voor een keer pakken fotograad David en ik het helemaal anders aan. We voegen ons bij een groepsreis van de Oostenrijkse reisorganisatie Edelweiss Bicycle, voor een achtdaagse fietsreis door Zuid-Spanje.
