Tuscany Tour (SPE25002-8FO)

Today was our first day – the meeting point: the beautiful city of Florence. Many of us took the time to stroll through the old town, admire the cathedral, or enjoy a gelato at the Ponte Vecchio. Some even traveled as far as Cinque Terre. In the late afternoon, we met for the official briefing, where we got to know our e-bikes and got a preview of the upcoming adventure: rolling hills, small villages, Tuscan panoramas – and plenty of moments of enjoyment. You can tell – anticipation is in the air. To round off the day, we sat together in a cozy trattoria, where homemade pasta, Chianti wine, and lots of laughter sweetened the evening. A perfect start to our e-bike trip through Tuscany!
Today was our first day of cycling. And after we arrived at the starting point, with a few hiccups :-) , and everything was adjusted, we were ready to go. In the hills of Chianti, again not without some detours :-) , there was a lot to experience. Wineries, small idyllic villages, lonely roads. And of course, the culinary delights were not to be missed. We visited the famous Falorni butcher shop in Greve and enjoyed a delicious dinner in Castellina. And, of course, a cappuccino or two.
Today, we had a wonderful ride from the medival town of Castellina to the even more medival town of San Gimignano, the city of towers. We even had the chance to visit a terracotta model of the high time of S.G. in 1300 with 72 of these impressive towerhouses. The lunch-stop in Certaldo impressed with abundance of stone brick walls and spectacular views of the Poggibonsi area alike. What an awesome day !
Todays route took us over amazing Tuscany hills. Riding from San Gimignano to Castel San Gimignano followed by a relaxed coffee at Cole di Val d'Elsa. After the coffee we turned on part of ancient road Via Francigena, still seeing parts of old Pilgram road on the way. A short visit at historical Abbadia Isola was topped by visit of Monteriggioni, an ancient fortified hilltop village. Our final destination Siena was reached and everyone soon enjoyed a relaxed drink on worlds famous Piazza del Campo.
Today we had our well-deserved rest day in Siena. Of course, we were still active. We explored the city with our local guide, Liv. Wow, everything here revolves around the Palio. We even watched a contrada parade. In the second half of the day, you could explore on your own or just relax and enjoy the atmosphere to gather strength for tomorrow.
Todays day was dedicated to riding through unspoiled Tuscany valley via pilgram road Francigena and worlds famous cycling roads of L'Eroica, which actual race will take place very soon on 17.5.2025, we took part of road already prepared for the race! The road also hosts another famous cycling race 'Strade Bianche'. We also visited a hidden treasure Murlo, one of oldest vilages in Italy, arriving to beautiful Montalcino for a glass of Brunelo.
Theme of the day: Cooking class! But first a beautiful ride through the Val d'Orcia. At Pienza (named after Pope Pius II.) we had a tasteful lunch with the famous Pecorino goat cheese. But the highlight of the day was this awesome cooking class where we made real italian pasta (Pici), chicken and Cantucci.
Today was the queen stage. No less than 81km and 1,300 meters of elevation gain were to be tackled. But it wasn't that bad after all. Thanks to the many stops and the magnificent descents, the time flew by. And of course, the highlights of the day also helped to round off the day. We soaked our weary bones in the hot pools of San Filippo Bagni and refreshed ourselves with a surprise picnic with a magnificent view of the Val d'Orcia.
